Straw is a collection of tubular steel furniture, which is unique thanks to the way in which the tubular steel has been deformed. Instead of forming the frame in gentle bends, the designers from the Berlin design studio Osko + Deichman have folded the steel tubes. The steel chairs from the Straw family can be used inside as well as outside. The line is produced by Swedish furniture manufacturer Blå Station. Straw received the Forum +1 Award at the 2010 Stockholm Furniture Fair.
With Straw, the designers Blasius Osko and Oliver Deichmann pay homage to classic tubular steel furniture, while simultaneously challenging convention both visually and physically, and introducing a striking new expression to the canon of the design. The contrast with the otherwise rounded shape of the tube produces a result that seems almost to have been fashioned by hand.
The collection is made of galvanized and lacquered «kinked» tubular steel and has plastic feet.
